Courtney Cole

Courtney began her ballet training at the age of 7 and was a founding member of Central Indiana Dance Ensemble. She has trained with Suzann Delay, as well as Jordan College Academy of dance. While training she also participated in many summer intensive programs such as American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Nashville Ballet. During her junior and senior years in high school, Courtney danced in Butler University’s Gifted and Talented Program for high school students.
Following Courtney’s high school graduation in 2004 she was offered a contract as a member of Nashville Ballet 2 where she performed in Paul Vasterling’s “The Nutcracker”, Sarah Slipper’s “Postcards from the Boys” and many other productions. Following her time with Nashville Ballet, Courtney danced for a summer season with Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre. Before leaving for Indiana University in 2006 she danced the role of Judas in GHDT's original production of “Superhero”.
Courtney left the dance world in 2006 to attending Indiana University, Bloomington where she received in May of 2010 two major degrees in International Studies and Germanic Studies and two minor degrees in Political Science and West European Studies. During her junior year at IU, Courtney was selected to study for 11 months in Freiburg, Germany at Albert-Ludwig’s Universitaet Freiburg. Courtney was a Founder’s Scholar for all four years at IU, graduated with departmental honors in International Studies and graduated with High Distinction.
Currently Courtney is a Teach for America Corps member and is working at The Indianapolis Project School teaching Kindergarten through 1st grade Special Education. She also attends Marian University where she is completing a master’s degree in Special Education. Courtney is very excited to be back in the dance world and to be teaching something she feels so passionately about.
